Spink Architectural Design was retained to design and provide construction support for this detached office unit located in the garden of a recently completed MAKAR construction.
Whilst original planning had been granted for a single-storey garage with a workshop and low-pitch roof, our client wanted something that would provide a complete home office solution, garage, and workshop. Working with the client and their family, including an architect in Canada, we created this design all to fit onto the concrete pad which had been installed as part of the house build.
Cost control was key to the success of this project, which we achieved by careful materials specification, considering the size and orientation of glazing, and working closely with the construction contractor, Prestige Construction of Nairn.
Bringing together the complexities of a fixed footprint, multiple and, in places, conflicting needs, all to a tightly controlled budget, made this an interesting and challenging project. We look forward to this one completing in August 2023
